Itinerary

CEREMONY

We are asking all guests to arrive at the Headland Hotel, Fistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1EW at 12:30 pm. The wedding ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM. This will approximately last 30 mins, after which photos will commence.

 

WEDDING BREAKFAST

This will be held in the north end of the restaurant at the Headland Hotel. Sit down between 3:00pm and 3:30pm.

 

RECEPTION

Again at the beautiful Headland Hotel in the Ballroom. Time to be confirmed…..but all you need to know is that it’s party time.

 

  • 8am – 10.30am Breakfast at the hotel –  for those staying at the hotel or even those who wish to have brekkie here (you don’t have to be staying at the hotel you can pay for the breakfast aprox £12 per person) they serve it from 8am – 10.30am in the restaurant
  • 12 Noon – Mike & best man Andy to ensure grooms party have ties & button holes
  • 12:30pm – Guests to arrive
  • 12:45pm REGISTRAR chat– Registrar to meet Gemma in the bridal suite to go through a few items before the ceremony 
  • 1pm-1.30pm CEREMONY: Please aim to arrive for 12.30pm to The Headland Hotel as the ceremony will start promptly at 1pm. Mike and his best man Andy Marshall will be there to greet people. This will be held in The Half Ballroom of the hotel and last 30 mins. Music will be a playlist the couple have selected and a member of the grooms party will control the music at the right times. The bride and groom will be getting married in front of the stage, red carpet down the aisle and registrars table will be prepared by the hotel. The first 3 rows on either side are reserved for immediate family and the wedding party.
  • 1:30pm – 3pm RECEPTION DRINKS & PHOTOS – drinks will be available in the front lounge and of course more can be obtained at the bar! Photos will also be done during this time within the hotel by Sarah & Mason of ‘Insta Wedding’. They have a list of all the guests and will let you know when you are needed for certain photos. It will only be the Bride & Groom who do any outdoor photos weather permitting…it is November after all. You will also get chance to scrutinise the seating plan…such fun! 
  • 3pm – 6pm WEDDING BREAKFAST – we have a hotel toastmaster who will announce when to make your way to the North End of the Restaurant in the hotel to eat. On your way, Gemma & Mike will be doing a reception line to ensure they have chance to say a fine and dandy hi and how do you do. The hotel will have set up all the necessary decorations which will be double checked by maid of honour and best man
  • 3:25pm BLESSING – Mike’s parents Jan and Eric will do a blessing/short speech before we eat 
  • 3:30pm FOOD! – That’s right, we are eating before the speeches (phew!) 
  • Aprox 5pm (it will be announced) SPEECHES – Father of the Bride, Dave Siddle will start the proceedings off followed by Mike and then the best man Andy Marshall 
  • Aprox 6pm CAKE CUTTING (made by the Groom himself!) – again this will be announced and held in the same room where we are eating 
  • 6:30pm FIRST DANCE – back in the half ballroom again (where we were for the ceremony) but now it will have been transformed ready for boogie time. Seats and tables will be around the edge of the room, dancefloor in the middle and stage at the front where the band and DJ will be set up
  • 6:45pm – 8.30pm LIVE BAND ‘The Obscuritones’ (x2 45min sets) – time for some rockabilly magic from one of Gemma’s best friends Joey Hill and her band.
  • 8:30pm – Midnight – We continue dancing and celebrating the night away with music from our DJ
  • 9:30pm BUFFET – a slection of Cornish pasties and wedding cake will be available…YUM!
  • MIDNIGHT – It’s time for bed (if you’re still going)

DIRECTIONS

Travelling by road to The Headland in Newquay is straightforward. Travel down the M5 to the end of the motorway at Junction 31, and choose the A30 or the more southerly A38 (which has some single carriageway sections and traverses the Tamar Bridge at Plymouth). Both routes rejoin at the Bodmin by-pass. From the outskirts of Newquay follow the signs to Fistral Beach. Parking is available on site at The Headland.

The closest train station to The Headland is at Newquay. Travel is possible to Newquay by train from many parts of the British Isles.

National Rail
By Air

From Newquay it is possible to fly to Belfast, Dublin, London Stansted, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Newcastle the Isles of Scilly and Dusseldorf. Please note that there is no full-time taxi rank at Newquay Airport, and so pre-booking a taxi is essential.  To arrive in style, why not book a special transfer with Trenance Cars, who will refund your taxi fare if they are not ready and waiting in arrivals when you land.
